Simple Ways To Write Time In Japanese Language
This section discusses the ways to write the time in Japanese language. The ways include showing hours and minutes, writing hiragana, writing kanji, and so on.
It is really simple to write the time in Japanese. When you want to show hours and minutes, you can use Arabic digits or hiragana (depending on what's more appropriate for your situation). Also, you can write the time in kanji (more specialized) if needed.
Time in Japan is intimately tied to the natural world.
The distinction between night and day does not exist, instead time is measured by the rising and setting of the sun. The sun rises at 6am and sets at 6pm. So it's 1pm when the sun is high in the sky but not yet setting.
In traditional Japanese, "time" is usually written in Chinese characters and read as "時間", while the word 時計 (watch, clock) means "timepiece".
In modern Japanese, the word 時間 can refer to both time and a timepiece. In spoken Japanese, however, the words 時計 and 時間 are not interchangeable.
